lamp of love
light, oh where is the light?
kindle it with the burning fire of desire!
there is the lamp but never a flicker of a flame---is such thy fate, my heart?
ah, death were better by far for thee!
misery knocks at thy door,
and her message is that thy lord is wakeful,
and he calls thee to the love-tryst through the darkness of night.
the sky is overcast with clouds and the rain is ceaseless.
i know not what this is that stirs in me---i know not its meaning.
a moment's flash of lightning drags down a deeper gloom on my sight,
and my heart gropes for the path to where the music of the night calls me.
light, oh where is the light!
kindle it with the burning fire of desire!
it thunders and the wind rushes screaming through the void.
the night is black as a black stone.
let not the hours pass by in the dark.
kindle the lamp of love with thy life.
the tells of a valley full of lovers by william butler yeats
i dreamed that i stood in a valley, and amid sighs,
for happy lovers passed two by two where i stood;
and i dreamed my lost love came stealthily out of the wood
with her cloud-pale eyelids falling on dream-dimmed eyes:
i cried in my dream, o women, bid the young men lay
their heads on your knees, and drown their eyes with your fair,
or remembering hers they will find no other face fair
till all the valleys of the world have been withered away.
结队从我身旁走过,我身处一片叹息;
meeting at night 夜会
the gray sea and the long black land;
and the yellow half-moon large and low;
and the startled little waves that leap
in fiery ringlets from their sleep,
as i gain the cove with pushing prow,
and quench its speed i’ the slushy sand.
then a mile of warm sea-scented beach;
three fields to cross till a farm appears;
a tap at the pane, the quick sharp scratch
and blue spurt of a lighted match,
and a voice less loud, thro’its joys and fears,
than the two hearts beating each to each!
灰莽的海,黑长的岸;
金色的半月大而低;
而后是一英里海香暖人的沙滩;
穿过三块田地才见一个农场;
