San Russell is not your average(一般的)baseball fan. He is a die-hard Boston Red Sox
fan. He has a season ticket and he arranges his work schedule so hedoes not miss a game. San
also attends game dressed in their uniform, and his car is red. Hehas even lost some friends by
choosing to watch the Red Sox instead of going to their weddings. Is this healthy behavior?

AlthoughRussell* a case is extreme, being a sports fan can be healthy foryou. According to
2013武汉市九年级四月调考英语试卷 武汉市七年级语文试卷
a study at the University of Kansas in the USA, sports fans sufferfrom depression less than people
who are not interested in sports. Sports fans also experience othereffects from watching their team
play. When their team wins a game, their own confidence andhappiness increase, just like the
athletes. Losing, on the other hand, always leads to some sense ofdisappointment.

What about die-hard fans whoseteam always loses? The team spirit keeps those fans from
losing hope. Knowing that other fans are probably feeling the sameway also helps them. In
addition, there is always the hope that their team will win thenext game. Russell has lost some

friendsbecause of his love for baseball and although you may think thatwould make him unhappy,he has made many more new friends because ofhis team spirit.

According to
a study at the University of Kansas in the USA, sports fans sufferfrom depression less than people
who are not interested in sports.
