这首诗歌即Getty's Music的作品，英格兰诗歌作家Stuart Townend和现居美国的北爱尔兰作曲家KeithGetty试图创作兼具神学深度和诗词意境，音乐风格连接传统和现代，适合每一代人的圣诗。他们认为圣诗应教导整全圣经真理，同时又能深入人心，帮助基督徒反思和坚固信仰，建立他们的生命。《惟有基督》是两人2002年的首度合作，反响巨大。
