孩子长大以后,他们自然要凭自己的兴趣和爱好而挑选自己喜欢阅读的书籍和读物。这时父母一定要鼓励孩子,因为这说明孩子有自主阅读的兴趣很愿望。有阅读能力的孩子才能体验和享受阅读的欢乐和愉快。
儿子刚开始自主阅读时,我们经常不知道帮儿子选择何种程度的英语绘本,如果太难,儿子可能会失去阅读的兴趣,太简单又会让他提不起兴致,选择恰到好处,符合他的阅读程度的英语绘本就成了老公和我的任务。于是我们向儿子学校的老师询问什么样的书才是符合儿子阅读水准的英语绘本。老师告诉我们他们一般用:简单;恰到好处;比较难,具有挑战性这几个词汇来形容英语绘本的阅读水准。
在北美,学校老师常常教给孩子如何选择一本恰到好处,符合他们的阅读水平的书籍的方法,就是:五个手指的规则。
1,首先让孩子随意翻到一本他们想读的那本书任何一页。
2,请孩子开始阅读。
3,每次孩子碰到一个生词时,就伸出一个手指。
4。当孩子读完整页书后,请他们数数伸出了几个手指。
判断法则:

斯凯瑞金色童书
这本书描写的是忙碌,忙碌世界(Busytown)中消防队员的一天。孩子和父母们一定会喜欢书中理查德斯凯瑞所珍爱的所有的人物。书中运用丰富多彩的插图把消防队员的一天表现在孩子面前。通过阅读,孩子可以培养英语语感,增加英语词汇,了解自然界和社会生活。
作者理查德•斯凯瑞(Richard Scarry),1919年生于波士顿,是美国最负盛名的儿童畅销书作家之一。理查德创作的三百多部儿童图书深度世界各地孩子的喜爱。他的“金色童书”系列在北美家喻户晓,陪伴代又一代人成长,是美国家庭书架和美国国家图书馆的必藏书。
