Let students work inpairs.

Get students to look at 1b and ask students Howcan singing English songs help your English?Discuss it with yourpartner and make a list.

Get students to complete it.Students do not lookat the reading yet.Instead,they work in pairs

and use their background knowledge to try to makea list of how can singing English songs help one’s Englishabilities.As students complete this task,move around the room andlook at their progress.

Once most students finish,ask a few pairs ofstudents to share their answers with the class.

Answers will vary.

Get students to predict what they think thearticle is about,based on the title.Ask thestudents what English songs they like best.

Play the tape for students and ask students toread the text.
