High five---Give Me Five
The high five is a celebratoryhand gesture that occurs when two peoplesimultaneously raise one hand, about head high, and push, slide orslap the flat of their palm and hand against the palm and flat handof their partner. The gesture is often preceded verbally by thephrase "Give me five" or "High five".
There are many origin stories of thehigh five, but the two most documented candidates are Dusty Baker and Glenn Burke of the Los Angeles Dodgersprofessional baseball team on Oct. 2, 1977, and Wiley Brown and Derek Smith of theLouisville Cardinals men's college basketballteam during the 1978-1979 season.
In the United States, there is an initiative tocelebrate the third Thursday of April as National High FiveDay.
在孩童的游戏中,High five的手势搭配著有押韵的歌谣:“up high, to the side, to the other side, down low, too slow!”
