《夜雨寄北》
--李商隐
君问归期未有期,
巴山夜雨涨秋池。
何当共剪西窗烛,
却话巴山夜雨时。
初译版:
Nostalgia on a Rainy Night
-Li Shangyin
-Tr. 许景城(Peter CooperXu)
When to return thou ask me is still unknown,
As water’s brimming the autumn pond up-flown.
When to prune wicks again with thee isyearning,
As we meet on the rainy night convening.
Notes:
1. Li Shangyin (812-858) was a renowned poet in late TangDynasty.
2. This poem written in 848 naturally shows the poet's missingof his wife in the Chang’an during his journey in the regions ofBashu (now inSichuanprovince), although the lyrics are provincialand simple.
