这五个动词都含“纠正”、“改正”的意思。
correct一般用词，指将不正确，不完善或缺点错误的东西纠正，使之符合某一标准、要求或规定。
1）When you realize that you have madea mistake, you should immediately
take steps to correctit.
当你认识到你犯了一个错误,你应该立即采取措施去改正它。
2）It takesgreat determination and courage to correct one’s bad habit
developed for years.
纠正一个人多年养成的坏习惯需要有巨大的决心和勇气。
3）We hope she'llcome to her senses andcorrecthermistakes.
我们希望她能觉悟过来，改正错误。
4）Correctyourmistake the moment you realize it anddon'ttry

要知过必改，不要文过饰非。
rectify 较正式用词，表示彻底改正、纠正或整顿，含不再犯类似过错的
意思。
1）If you know what the trouble is, why don’t youhelp them to rectify
the situation?
既然你知道问题的所在，你为什么不帮他们纠正这种情况呢？
2）Measurestoincreaseventilationwillrectifytheproblem.
增进通气的措施会纠正这种情况。
3）Theseundesirabletendencies must be rectified in good time,
otherwise thesituation can bedifficult to control.
这些不良倾向必须及时纠正，否则局面将难以掌控。
4）It is anarduous task for the government to rectify itself and fight
corruption.
政府自身建设和反腐败是一项艰巨的任务。
remedy本意是治愈疼痛或伤病，常用来喻指纠正、补救，更多含“补救”之意。

已经做了很多努力对这种情形进行补救。
2）Thedeteriorationofsoilstructureisdifficulttoremedy.
土壤结构的恶化很难挽回.
3）They made a fewchanges in personnel to remedythe inferior performance.
他们在人员上作了一些调整以弥补工作效率低下问题。
4）Thegovernment is taking positive measures to remedy the abuse of power in its
departments.
政府正在采取积极的措施来纠正各部门滥用权力。
revise“修正”、“修改”，主要指对文字进行必要的修正和改动以使其
完美，尤指对书、稿、计划、方案等的整体修改，纠正不足之处。也可对自己原
来的观点、意见等进行修正或改正。
1）It is true that there are some shortcomings inthe program, but we
will reviseit to yoursatisfaction.
确实，这个方案存在一些缺点，不过我们会修改，保证让你满意。
2）Anotherproblem would be to revise theapproach to science
communication and popularization.
另外一个问题是要修善科学交流和传播修改的方法。
3）Because offalling revenues, we will have to immediately revise next
year’s budgets and cut spending.
由于国家税收减少，我们必须立即修正明年的预算，并削减开支。
4）I have torevise my ideas about him — he isreally quite honest after
all.
我不得不修改我对他的看法,——他确实是非常诚实的。
amend“修正”、“修改”，主要指对法律条文、议案的部分修订，也可
对计划、方案，观点、意见、看法、行为等进行部分修正或改正，使之更好，符
合更高的要求。
1）On principle, we approve of your program butsome of items need to be
amended.
原则上我们赞成你的计划,但有些条目需要修改。
2）Theprovisions discussed must be amendedbefore we proceed to the next
negotiation.
在我们进入下一次谈判之前必须对已经讨论过的条款进行修改。

法官建议他改变自己的生活方式。
4）Myteacher gave me a lot of advices about my master thesis, so Imust
amend it immediately.
