试卷一【选词填空】
What does it take to be a well-trained nurse? The answer used to betwo-year associates or four-year bachelors degree programs. But asthe nursing shortage deepens, agrowing number of schools and hospitals are establishing"fast-track programs" that enable college grads with no nursingexperience to become registered nurseswith only a year or so of specializedtraining.
In 1991, there were only 40 fast-track curricula; now there aremore than 200. Typical is Columbia Universitys Entry to Practiceprogram. Students earn their bachelor of science in nursing in ayear. Those who stay on for an additional two years can earn a masters degreethat qualifies them as nursepractitioners, nurse anesthetists, clinical nurse specialists orcertified nurse midwives.
Many students are recent grads; othersare career switchers. Rudy Guardron, 32, a 2004 grad of Columbiasprogram, was premed in college and then worked for a pharmaceuticalresearch company. At Columbia, he was trained as a nurse practitioner. "I saw thatnurses were in high demand and itlooked like a really good opportunity," he says. "Also, I didntwant to be in school for that long."
The fast-track trend fills a need, but its also creating sometension between newcomers andveterans. "Nurses that are still at the bedside view these kids with suspicion," says LindaPellico, who has taught nursing at Yale University for 18 years."They wonder, how can they do it quicker?" The answer is they dont.Students entering with a bachelors havealready completed many of the prerequisites of traditional nursingschools. "They hit the ground running," says Hila Richardson, associate dean at New York University, which has a 15-monthprogram. She says the fast-trackers get the same amount of clinicalpractice and classroom time as traditional nursingstudents.

【听写填空】When Captain Cook asked the chiefs inTahiti why they always ate apart andalone, they replied, “Because it is right。” If we askAmericans why they eat with knives and forks, or why their men wearpants instead of skirts or why theymay be married to only one person at a time, we are likely to getsimilar and very uninformative answersbecause it’s right, because that’s the way it’s done, because it’sthe custom or even I don’t know. Thereason for these and countless other patterns of social behavior isthat they are controlled by socialnorms shared rules or guide lines which prescribe the behavior thatis appropriate in a given situation. Norms define how people ought to behave under particularcircumstances in a particular society. We conform to norms soreadily that we are hardly aware they exist. In fact we are much more likely to noticedepartures from norms than conformityto them. You will not be surprised if a stranger tried to shakehands when you were introduced, but you might be a littlestartled if they bowed, started tostroke you or kissed you on both cheeks. Yet each of these other forms of greetingis appropriate in other parts of the world. When we visit anothersociety whose norms are different, we quickly become aware thatthings we do this way, they do that way。

Once I learn how to use google, isnt that all the education Ireally need?
题目:
The impact of the Internet on learning
Explain why education doesn’t simply mean learning toobtain information
【例文】In the age of knowledge explosion, theInternet opens a magical portal for leaners to get access toseemingly incessant information. But is information equal toknowledge? “Once I learn how to use google, isnt that all theeducation I really need?” This question fully embodies theprejudiced opinion that as long as people acquire abundantinformation, they will get proper education。
The reason why education doesn’t simply mean learning to obtaininformation is that education is not limited to the hard facts ortheories students can learn from their textbooks or the Internet. It relates to a wider scope ranging from the obtainment ofpractical skills to the development of characters, which are hardfor students to learn simply by googling. Consequently, comprehensive learning in schools that includes learning knowledge, conducting experiments and communicating with peers is what trueeducation is。
In a word, the Internet does provide valuable information forlearners, but people should be fully conscious of the essence ofeducation and learn to tell the right from the wrong。
2013年英语四级完整版答案
作文部分:
范文一:The modern technology hasgreatly altered the mode of communication among people. With thehelp of the Internet, people can easily contact each other anytimeanywhere. However, the side effect is that many people have becomeover-dependent on the Internet and neglected face-to-facecommunication.
As far as Im concerned, electronic communication cannot fullyreplace the direct contact among people. Although it seems to bringeveryone together, it actually estranges people and decreases theeffectiveness of communication. A typical example is that, traditionally, people working in the same office simply walk toothers and talk. Today, however, co-workers tend to send e-mails orinstant messages through the Internet even when they are sittingnext to each other. As words can never convey the full message, itusually takes much more time and rounds of conversation thanface-to-face communication, in which people can discuss moredirectly with less loss of information.
To conclude, the Internet enables more effective communicationin some situations, but over-dependence on it actually pulls peopleapart.
范文二:
It is frequently observedthat many people keep looking down at their mobile phones whateverthey are doing. It is true that mobile phones have brought greatconvenience to us as we can send short messages, check e-mails,surf the Internet, or watch videos almost anywhere. However, theoveruse of mobile phones also leads to some seriousproblems.
The over-dependence on mobile phones can harm the relationshipamong friends and family. With mobile phones, people do not talk asmuch as before. For example, sometimes at dinner tables, instead ofchatting and laughing with each other, many people choose to chatwith other friends online. In other words, mobile phones helppeople contacting friends far away more easily at the expense ofreducing the communication with those who are sitting right next tothem.
In conclusion, mobile phone can be a useful tool in modern life, but overusing it damages interpersonal relationship. There is nopoint to lose our intimacy with friends and family to moderntechnology.
