These are the words used by the celebrated Song Dynasty poet SuDongpo (960-1127) to describe Hangzhou's West Lake. The West Lakescenic zone lies in Hangzhou City in northern Zhejiang Province,encompassing an area of 6 square kilometers. West Lake is anelliptical landscape with a water surface of 5.66 squarekilometers, and a circumference of 15 km. it is not a big lake interms of its geographical area, but it has a long history and fullof sensational legends.
