opposite及across的用法 across和cross的区别

opposite

形容词 a. 
   1.相反的,对立的[(+to)]
     They have opposite views on the question. 
     在这个问题上他们持相反的观点。 
   2.对面的,相对的[(+to)]
     His store is opposite to mine. 他的店在我的对面。 
     (opposite这里是adj，后面有to，与下面的The post office is opposite the bank. 比较)
     He lives opposite to me. 他住在我对面。 
     There was a garden on the opposite side of the street. 街的对面有个花园。

     My view is the very opposite of his. 我的看法正好于他相反。

   1.在...对面
    The post office is opposite the bank. 邮局在银行对面。 
    （这里完全等同于across from?）

      They sat opposite on the lawn. 他们面对面坐在草坪上

across

介词 prep. 
   1.横越,穿过

   2.在...那边

   3.与...相交叉
     The two lines cut across each other. 两条线相互交叉。 

副词 ad. 
   1.横过
     We got into the boat and rowed across. 我们上了船,将船划到对岸。 
   2.宽
     The river is two miles across. 河宽二英里。 
   3.在对面;向对面
     Can you jump across? 你能跳过去吗?
