一、程度状语
1、名词作程度状语
名词作程度状语多修饰形容词和副词，
例如：
The baby isseven months old. 那个婴儿有七个月了。
The rope is100 meters long. 这根绳子有一百米长。
It weighsalmost a ton.它几乎有一吨重。
This ticket isthree days overdue. 这张票已经过期三天了。
Thetemperature fell seven degrees in a single night.气温一夜间下降了七度。
2、副词作程度状语
副词almost, enough, entirely, extremely, fairly, far, greatly,half, much, nearly, pretty, quite, rather, slightly, so, somewhat,terribly, that, this, too, very, well,etc.都可以作程度副词，
例如：
It’s verycold. 天气很冷。
The tortoise ranso slowly. 乌龟跑得这么慢。
The egg isthis big. 那只鸡蛋有这么大。
They weregreatly moved to hear the old man’sstory.听了老人讲的情况，他们大为感动。
Of course, wewere deeply impresssed. 当然这给我们留下了深刻的印象。
“dead”作为程度副词常修饰certain，drunk, level, quiet,right, straight, tired, wrong，etc.,
例如：
It’s deadsilent in the room. 屋里一片沉默。
另外，wide open, sound/fast asleep, burning hot, freezing cold,etc.都是固定表达法。
例如：
To my surprise,he was sound asleep in such a burning hot day atall.
使我感到吃惊的是，在这么炎热的天气里他居然睡得怎么香。
3、介词短语作程度状语
例如：
She was touchedbeyond words. 她被感动得没法形容。
They have raisedthe prices to three yuan a jin.他们已经把价格提高到三元一斤。
She sleptlike a dog. 他睡得很沉。
They escapedfrom the exploded spot, running around like mad.
他们像疯子一样四处奔跑，逃离了爆炸现场。
Hewas sad to death. 他悲痛欲绝。
4、动词不定式作程度状语
例如：
I was too stupidto answer this question. W我太笨了，当时没有回答出这个问题。
He was slow tomake up his mind. 他迟迟不能下决心。
He is old enoughto join the Army. 他到了服役的年龄了。
5、从句作程度状语
程度状语从句常用so…that,such…that引导，
例如：
She was so glad that she jumped off the platform andheld his coach in her arms tightly.
她是那么地高兴，以至从台上跳下去紧紧地抱住她的教练。
It is such a big room that the ten of us can live init.
这个房间是怎么大，我们十个人都可以住在里面。
二、方式状语
1、名词作方式状语
名词作方式状语常用词组形式，
例如：
Shelikes to have it her own way. 他喜欢按照自己的方式去做事。
Weshould serve the people heart and soul. 我们应该全心全意地为人民服务。
Theywent out hand in hand. 他们手牵手地出去了。
Shedived in head first.她头朝下跳进水里。
Thepicture was hung upside down.. 这张画子被倒挂着。
Peelthe apple this way. 要像这样削苹果皮。
2、副词作方式状语
下列副词常在句子中作方式状语alone, bravely, calmly, carefully, clearly,cleverly, cruelly, curiously, foolishly, generously, how,hurriedly, kindly, naturally, nervously, patiently, proudly,quietly, secretly, simply, successfully, warmly,etc.
例如：
Hefoolishly sat there, staring out of the window.他傻乎乎地坐在那儿，眼睛直盯着窗外。
Thegirl said proudly, “Sure!” 那个女孩骄傲地说：“一定行！”
3、 介词短语作方式状语
引导方式状语的介词常用的有：by, in, like, on, over, through, with; by way of,by means of, etc.
例如：
Theywere chatting in a loud voice. 他们正在大声地聊天。
Didyou come here by bus? 你们是坐公共汽车来的吗？
Welearn swimming only by swimming. 我们只能通过游泳来学习游泳。
Though a third person I got the letter.我是通过一个第三者才收到那封信的。
Ilearned French on/over the radio. 我是跟广播学法语的。
Hewent home with a heavy heart. 他带着沉重的心情回家的。
4、形容词作方式状语
例如：
Frommy hands he took the notice, full of thanks.他万分感激地从我手上接过通知书。
Heapproached us full of appologies.他满脸歉意地向我们走来。
Thebeggar lay on the ground hungry and thirsty.那个乞丐饥渴难忍地躺在地上。
5、独立结构作状语
例如：
Theboy leant against the wall, his teeth set and his eyes glaringupward.
那个男孩斜靠在墙上，牙关紧闭，愤怒的双眼直射上方。
Shelay on her back in bed, her hands crossed under herhead.
她仰卧在床上，双手交叉着放在头下。
6、分词短语作方式状语
例如：
Shehad to work standing. 她得站着干活。
Theycame up, shouldering fishing poles. 他们肩上扛着雨竿一路走过来。
Flushed and breathless,she ran into the room.她满脸通红，气喘吁吁地跑进房间。
Pointing to the star, he said, “Didn’t you seeit?”
他指着那颗星星说：“难道你没有看到那颗星星？”
7、从句作方式状语
例如：
Doas I told you yesterday. 照我昨天跟你说的去做。
She treats him as if/though he were her ownson. 她把他看成是自己的亲生儿子一样。
