3 Everyone joined Mom at the table. "I've saved the best news for last," said Ben. Smiling. "I talked to Ling about going to Washington, D.C. to tape information for my first show. She thought it was a great idea. She's making plans for us to go before school starts. You're all invited to come along."
4 "I'll have to miss this trip, Ben. I don't think I should take time off right now. But Kate will be able to go since she is still on summer vacation," said Ben.
5 "Yes, and my school calendar is about the same as yours, so I'll be able to go with you and Kate," Dad said.
6 "Good ideas do run in this family," said Mom. "Now how about some more of that delicious chili?"
