The question of 'how you slept' is often the first thing many of usare asked in the morning - but it can be difficult to answer, giventhat you tend to have been asleep at the time。
The ?90 Zeo headband and new iPhone app offer the first way tomeasure 'exactly how you slept,' its inventor, Ben Rubin, told MailOnline today。
Rubin claims the gizmo can even improve your sex life。
The headband - which launches in the UK today - has two silverpatches to monitor your brain waves - then the app offers advice on whatmight be disturbing your sleep, from snoring partners to over-litbedrooms。
'Sleep has an amazing power,' says Rubin, 'It can affect recovery from disease, your mental energy - even your sex life.'
The app is easy to read, with different colour bars representingdifferent 'types' of sleep - feeding it with data such as your caffeineintake helps it to offer advice。
'If you're a young, healthy person, you should be scoring 100,'says Rubin, 'But we didn't cap the 'score' at 100. I slept for 12 hoursone night and scored 142.'
For those who are scoring less than 100 - both 'deep' and 'rapideye movement' sleep (which coincides with dreams) are important forhealth - the app offers advice on what might be causing problems。
'Once you start measuring, you can start working out what's causingthe problems,' says Rubin, 'You input data about the room you sleep inand your lifestyle, and the app can suggest whether you should, say, usea blue light, or a new mattress or a relaxation MP3.'
'When we started this company, the scientists we asked said, 'Youcan't do this at home, you can only do it in the lab,' says Rubin. 'Nowthis technology is available to anyone.'
Zeo was previously available only in America, cost twice as much, and required a cumbersome 'reader' unit to operate。
