爱华网自然灾害经济学的发展方兴未艾，学术的研究没有止境。前述的研究成果是自然灾害经济学纵深发展的基础，近年来部分经济学家开始探讨发展中国家的灾害经济问题。发展中国家本身经济政治文化等发展存在许多问题，其经济活动的致灾性和社会经济系统的易损性，使其面临巨大自然灾害时表现出天然的脆弱性。一个国家的灾难往往对周边国家甚至对全球经济造成影响，而国际间的合作机制将有助于受灾国迅速从灾难中恢复。因此，发展中国家自身的灾害防治问题，以及如何实施对发展中国家灾害的外部援助，将是灾害经济学未来的重要研究方向。
