奥运某日，我漫步于繁华的王府井大街，偶遇几个老外，他们兴致勃勃地哼唱着“北京欢迎你，有梦想谁都了不起，有勇气就会有奇迹！”越唱嗓门越高，于是越来越多的老外跟着唱，最后竟有一帮老外唱成了一个声。而此刻在奥运赛场上，中国军团摘金夺银，一再向世人展现大国崛起的魅力，难怪有个外国朋友对我开玩笑说：“上帝都加入中国国籍啦！”
我知道这是一句玩笑，可我还是和他理论：“上帝其实是在鼓励一种精神！”奥运期间，我的确被这样一种精神所感动，比如德国33岁的女子体操选手丘索维金娜，为了给3岁的儿子治疗白血病而重返赛场；24岁的美国游泳选手艾力克·尚蒂尽管身患绝症，却毅然选择来北京参加奥运会，因为在他心目当中，奥运梦想高于生命⋯⋯于是，我对那位老兄说,金牌应当属于这样一种精神！是这种精神在创造奇迹！
这种精神在本届奥运会上得到了充分的见证！对于中国人而言，这实在是一场迟来的奥运会，因为国人对奥运已经企盼了太久太久。从1932年洛杉矶奥运会刘长春代表中国单刀赴会，到1984年同样在洛杉矶许海峰夺得首金，到1993年中国申办2000年奥运会失败，到2008年北京成功举办第29届奥运会，中国军团获得了最多的金牌，整整76年，太多人为了这一刻付出，终于向世人证明：中国人的精神就是奥运精神，中国人正在为奥林匹克事业做出如此巨大的贡献！
奥运会实在太有魅力了，它是一个大家庭，在这个家庭里，来自全世界的人们，不分国籍、地位、种族、信仰，全都其乐融融地团聚在一起，共同分享着自由、快乐和友谊。奥运期间，我也处处感受着和谐社会的和谐气氛，比如，某日我偶感不适，住进了京城某大医院，由于体力实在不支，于是医生安排我躺在一张十分舒适的病床上输液，临出院时，漂亮的护士小姐悄悄告诉我：“这张病床其实是预备接待奥运官员的啊！”听到这句话，我大吃一惊：这么说，我，一个普普通通的百姓，竟然在无意中享受了和萨马兰奇、罗格等等奥运官员同级别的待遇！
记得在观看开幕式时，当出现那个篆体的“和”字时，我不禁吟诵起孔子的《礼记·礼运大同篇》：大道之行也，天下为公。选贤与能，讲信修睦，故人不独亲其亲，不独子其子，使老有所终，壮有所用，幼有所长，矜寡孤独废疾者，皆有所养。男有分，女有归。货恶其弃于地也，不必藏于已。力恶其不出于身也，不必为已。是故谋闭而不兴，盗窃乱贼而不作。故外户而不闭，是谓大同。|!---page split---|
对于国人来说，这次奥运会期间最大的缺憾恐怕要属刘翔因伤退赛。人们期待着飞人刘翔最终卫冕夺得110米栏冠军。对于亿万国人来说，这枚金牌的含金量可以说超过其他所有项目的金牌。但当飞人退赛的消息传来时，绝大多数国人给予刘翔那么多宽容、理解和爱，是出乎意料的，一位网友甚至这样饱含深情地说：“刘翔，在我们心中，你比金牌更重要！”
我想说，奥运会让我们的社会变得如此和谐，人与人之间相处得如此融洽，让我们朝着孔夫子笔下的大同社会迈进了一大步！
Olympics, Harmony, Commonwealth
One day during the Olympic Games in Beijing, I walkd in the noisy Wangfujing street and met some foreign people, they were singing the Olympic song in Chinese: "You are welcomed to Beijing! Anyone who has a dream is a hero! Courage will create miracles!" They sang louder and louder, then more and more foreign people sang with them excitedly. In the meantime, exciting news came again and again, the Chinese Olympic delegation were winning more and more gold medals, by doing so, they were singing the rising of China to the world. A foreign friend told me a joke: "Even God is siding with China!" I knew that this was a joke though, and argued: "God is siding with a kind of spirit!" I felt the warmest heartfelt affected by a kind of spirit, for instance, a 33-year German gymnastics female athlete has to join the Olympic competition, just in order to earn the awards to save her 3-year son who was suffering leukemia; a 24-year old American male swimming athlete who was suffering cancer came to Beijing to join the Olympic competition, because in his heart, the Olympic ideal is higher than life. Hence, I told the foreign friend: gold medal should belong to the Olympic spirit! It is the Olympic spirit that creates the miracles! The Olympic spirit was efficiently witnessed in the Beijing Olympic Games! For the Chinese people, this is really long-expected. From 1932 Liu Changchun represented China to participate in Los Angeles Olympic Games, to 1984 Xu Haifeng won the first gold medal for China in Los Angeles, to 1993 China failed in the competition of the hosting right of 2000 Olympic Games, to 2008 China has hosted successful Olympic Games in Beijing, for 76 years, people have been striving for the moment, just in order to show the Olympic Spirit to the world, and let the people know that China is making great contributions to the Olympic development! Olympic Games are so brilliant. It is like a big family in which the people from all over the world, concerning different nationality, social position, races, religion, etc., are living together, breathing together, sharing freedom, happiness and friendship. During the Olympic Games, wherever I went, I felt the harmony and friendship, for instance, some day I felt serious stomachache and went to see the doctor, the doctor helped me lie in a comfortable bed and gave me medical treatment, then I got better and better, when I left the hospital, the pretty nurse told me: "The bed you lay in is prepared for the Olympic officials."I was so astonished: It means that I, an average people, has enjoyed the treatment equal to Mr. Samaranch, Mr. Jacques Rogge, and other Olympic officials! I remember that in the opening ceremony, a big Chinese character 和(it means harmony) appeared in front of the audiences, which reminded me of Confucius’ Ideal of a Commonwealth State: When the Great Dao (Tao, perfect order) prevails, the world is like a Commonwealth State shared by all, not a dictatorship. Virtuous, worthy, wise and capable people are chosen as leaders. Honesty and trust are promoted, and good neighborliness cultivated. All people respect and love their own parents and children, as well as the parents and children of others. This is the ideal world – a perfect world of equality, fraternity, harmony, welfare, and justice. This is the world called “Da-Tong (Dah-Torng)”. For our Chinese people, Liu Xiang gave up the competition may be the biggest pity during the Olympic Games. The people were looking forward to seeing that Liu Xiang winning the Championship of 110 metres hurdles. For the Chinese people, if Liu Xiang wins the gold medal, it will be much more valuable than any other items. But when they got to know that Liu Xiang gave up the competition due to serious hurts, unexpectedly, most of the people gave him so much tolerance, understanding and love. A webtizen even said: "Liu, in our mind, you are more important than a gold medal!" I just want to say that it is the Olympic Games that make our society so harmonious, people are so friendly to each other, we are moving such a big step towards the Dah-Torng society illustrated by Confucius over 2500 years ago.
